Riway Group commissioned the RM-AWL80, a full-automatic wet wipes converting line, to keep pace with growing demand from Western buyers. Installed at the Ningbo plant in June 2017 and rated at up to 70 packs a minute at 80 wipes per pack, it replaced manual folding and packing with one continuous, monitored flow from parent roll to sealed pack.

What the RM-AWL80 line does
The line turns a parent roll of nonwoven substrate into a finished, sealed pack in a single pass. The sequence runs: parent roll support and automatic unwinding, folding and transport, sub-synchronous amplitude control, cutting to length, stacking, humidifying, quantitative count control, synchronous delivery, automatic hole opening, automatic labelling, automatic packing, automatic folding, heat sealing, cutting, and finished-product output.
Three steps in that sequence matter most to a buyer:
- Humidifying is where the formula is metered onto the sheet. Because it happens inline, the wet weight per pack is set by the machine rather than by an operator, so pack one and pack ten thousand carry the same load.
- Quantitative counting with synchronous delivery keeps the sheet moving in step with the packaging film, so the count printed on the pack is the count inside it.
- Heat sealing closes the pack immediately after wetting. That keeps the substrate from drying out and removes the manual step where contamination usually enters a wet wipes process.
Why automation matters to an OEM buyer
Capacity you can plan against. At 70 packs a minute of 80 wipes, the line is rated at roughly 5,600 wipes a minute. For a private-label programme that is often the difference between a launch order that fits a shipping window and one that slips a quarter.
Consistency across a run. Fold pattern, wet weight, count and seal quality are machine-controlled, so the first carton and the last carton of a production run match.
Less handling, lower hygiene risk. Once the sheet is wetted it travels sealed to the next station instead of passing through operators’ hands.
Traceability. Batch records track every production step, so a finished pack can be traced back through the substrate, water and formula batches used to make it.

The plant around the line
An automatic line only performs as well as the plant that feeds it. Wet wipes production at Riway runs inside a Class 100,000 cleanroom operating to GMP and ISO 22716 standards, and the wider facility includes:
- a pharmaceutical-grade EDI pure water system with automated liquid preparation and RO water treatment;
- an in-house microbiological testing laboratory;
- four-stage quality control, covering incoming raw material through to finished goods;
- written procedures and batch records that keep every step of production traceable.

What it means for your order
Every step above can be set to your specification:
- substrate (spunlace, airlaid, bamboo, cotton and blends), GSM and sheet size;
- fold pattern — Z-fold, C-fold and others — plus count per pack;
- formula, fragrance and active ingredients;
- packaging format: flow pack, sachet, tub, canister or individually wrapped sachets.
Production follows the sample and spec sheet you approve. Standard samples are ready in 3-5 working days before mass production starts. Work is carried out as OEM, ODM, private label or contract manufacturing, under your brand.
Quality and compliance
- management systems: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001;
- product and material: GMP (cosmetic) and CE;
- chain of custody: FSC;
- supply chain and ethics: Sedex and BSCI, with a Nordic Swan eco-label declaration and a non-animal testing declaration;
- every order ships with a batch certificate of analysis.
Frequently asked questions
How many wipes can a full-automatic line produce?
The RM-AWL80 at Riway is rated at up to 70 packs a minute at 80 wipes per pack, which works out at roughly 5,600 wipes a minute before packaging and changeover time. Actual output depends on pack format, count and the number of changeovers in a shift.
What can be customised on this production line?
Substrate type, GSM, sheet size, fold pattern (Z-fold, C-fold and others), count per pack, formula, fragrance and actives, and the packaging format. Production follows the sample and spec sheet you approve before the run starts.
How long does a sample take?
Standard samples are ready in 3-5 working days. A new formula, sheet size or packaging format is developed against your brief first, so it takes longer than a standard sample before mass production begins.
Which certifications cover production?
ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 for management systems, GMP (cosmetic) and CE for product and material, and FSC for chain of custody. The cleanroom is run to GMP and ISO 22716, and every order ships with a batch certificate of analysis.
Can this line run my own brand?
Yes. The line is used for OEM, ODM, private label and contract manufacturing, so packs are produced under your brand, your formula and your packaging.
Send your specification — pack format, sheet size, GSM, count and formula — and we will come back with a quotation and samples. Request a quote or email sales@riwaygroup.com.
